Grameen Bank Fact Finding Mission to Colombia

At the invitation of the AlvarAlice Foundation, Grameen Trust representatives undertook a Fact Finding Mission to Colombia to explore the possibility of establishing a Grameen Bank in several Colombian cities. The visit took place from March 9 to 14 2008. The delegation was composed of Professor H. I. Latifee, Managing Director of Grameen Trust and Mr. Tamim Islam, Assistant General Manager as well as Mr. Philip Sansone, President and Executive Director, and Mr. Steve Wanta, Field Program Manager,  Whole Planet Foundation, who participated in the Mission as a potential donors.

The delegation met with several governmental officials such as the Colombian First Lady Ms. Lina Moreno de Uribe, the High Council for Reintegration Mr. Frank Pearl, the office of the Financial Superintendent and the Mayor of the City of Cali among others. Meetings were held with other Colombian NGO’s such as Fundacion Corona, Universities, Private Sector Representatives as well as field visits to Aguablanca.
